Biography Overview

2024: Debut GT4 Season

2024

For 2024, Matt started the year with a massive milestone. He contested his first professional event in the SRO GT4 America season at the season opener in Sonoma Raceway. Driving the #53 AutoTechnic Racing BMW M4 GT4 was no guarentee, as a deal was struck only two weeks before the event after months of discussions and sponsor searches. Matt and codriver Troy Lindstrom capitalized on the opportunity. They took 5th of 11 in the Am class in Saturday’s race one with many lessons learned. On Sunday, Matt started 2nd and quickly made a move for 1st. After handing the car off to Troy with a perfect pit stop, they went on to score the win for race two against the odds. A fairytale (potential) start to the season for Matt on his 24th birthday. Sonoma was only a one-off as he continues to work on securing the remainder of the 2024 season in the #53 car.

Matt also continues to race for Palomar Racing in the World Racing League (WRL) series in the team’s #38 BMW E36 in the GP1 class. They scored the team’s first GP1 win at Eagles Canyon Raceway in February, continued with a podium at Barber Motorsports Park in March, and look forward to contesting for a title.

2023: Full Season in World Racing League

2023

For 2023, Matt had his offer extended with Palomar Racing. He joins as a lead driver in the #14 BMW E36 M3 for a full-season campaign in the World Racing League (WRL) championship, the premier U.S. club endurance series. Matt will contest the five round Mid-West GP1 Championship as well as two rounds in the Eastern GP1 Championship. It all culminates at the National Championship event in December at COTA.

In September, Matt was signed to a coaching and trackside support role at The Thermal Club near Palm Springs, California.

Matt has been close on a number of deals to make his professional debut, primarily in IMSA and SRO GT4. He is actively searching for further opportunities to make this possible.

2022: NASA National Champion

2022

For 2022, Million’s season was for San Diego-based Palomar Racing. It would be a very busy year behind-the-wheel of the team’s #24 and #25 BMW E36 race cars built for NASA ST5/E2 competition. Matt would compete full-time for the E2 class title in NASA Western Endurance Racing Championship (WERC), the sprint NASA SoCal title in Super Touring 5 (ST5), the NASA National Championships in ST5, and the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill in E2.

In September, Matt became the 2022 NASA ST5 National Champion during the annual NASA Championships. Taking place at WeatherTech Raceway, Matt used the ‘home’ state advantage to qualify pole and sweep the event’s races in the #24 BMW E36.

In October, Matt played a crucial role in claiming the team’s NASA WERC title in E2 with 5 wins in the 6 race season. In the one race they lost due to mechanic issues, they won the E1 class (Rd.4, Utah 6 Hour).

In November, Matt and teammate Nik Romano dually claimed the team’s NASA SoCal ST5 title. From 16 races over 8 weekends for the entry, Matt competed in 10 with 9 wins.

This would not be possible without the support of Palomar Solar & Roofing. Please contact if interested in providing opportunity, sponsorship, or requesting information.

2021: NASA WERC Champion

2021

For 2021, an unexpected phone call led to an unbelievable opportunity in February. Chosen as one of six finalists for a professional seat in a Mercedes-AMG GT4, Million gave his best during evaluation at Buttonwillow Raceway. While not selected, Million proved potential beyond what seemed possible and took away numerous lessons.

Since then, Million pursued a full season of NASA Western Endurance Racing Championship with GOneppo Racing in a BMW Spec E46 in the E2 class. Millionand codriver Peter Oneppo finished on the podium in each race of the championship’s most numerous and competitive class with race wins at the NASA Utah 6 Hour and October’s championship-clinching Buttonwillow 3 Hour. Million and Oneppo became the 2021 NASA WERC E2 champions.

In September, Million made his debut in World Racing League at VIRginia International Raceway’s 8 + 8 Hour event, winning back-to-back in the 11-car GP2 category for RKMotorsports.

In December, he was called upon by John Artz to lead the driver team for Team Black Swan Search in their first NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill in a BMW Spec E30. The team finished 2nd of 6 in the E3S class.

Million’s efforts in October caught the attention of Andy & Mike Anderson. Before 2021 ended, Million had a deal to race for Palomar Racing in 2022. For the first time ever, this allowed Matt to race without self-funding. A tremendous burden lifted off his family’s shoulders, he hopes to make the most of 2022.

2020: Transition to Germany

2020

For 2020, Matt was due to compete a full season in Germany’s BMW 318ti Cup. After completing the series test at Hockenheimring in February, the pandemic postponed the season.

Matt remained stateside and took an E2 class win with Technik Competition in NASA WERC in the Buttonwillow 3-hour in June. He took part in the NASA Utah 6 Hour before returning to Germany as soon as possible in September.

Matt completed four races with JAS Rennsport in a BMW 318ti Cup, including one official race at Sachsenring (finishing P7/28 on debut) and one NATC endurance race at Eurospeedway Lausitz with two more at Oschersleben (scoring 3rd of 15 in the 318ti Cup class in the first). Lockdown went into effect and forced the remainder of the BMW 318ti Cup calendar cancelled. Matt returned home in late November to complete his university work and prepare for 2021.

2019: Victory at 25h Thunderhill

2019

For 2019, Million stepped away from full season competition for financial reasons. He focused on his global business degree at local CSU San Marcos while keeping his eye on racing.

After finishing on the podium in a Spec Miata SCCA Majors event Matt began a small driving role inside Technik Competition, a growing amateur endurance team competing in the NASA WERC series. He worked in a driver development role focused on aiding teammates, strategy, and data.

In December, Matt helped the team to an improbable E2 class victory at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, gaining back 10+ laps through a race marred with inclement weather. He drove for 7 hours, 5 of which in full wet conditions. They finished P6 of 43 in overall standings and remain the highest placed non-ES/ESR car in event history.

2018: Transition to Semi-Pro Spec MX-5 Challenge Series

2018

Matt took a leap into the semi-pro ranks for 2018, selling his Spec Miata to compete in the new Spec MX-5 Challenge Series, a new national championship on Mazda’s development ladder.

Matt won the series’ inaugural race in the pouring rain at NCM Motorsports Park in Kentucky. From there, he adapted quickly to new circuits like COTA and Road Atlanta taking multiple podiums on route to a second victory at NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans. Matt entered the 12-car championship finale at Road Atlanta securing pole position by 4-tenths in wet conditions. Mechanical difficulties meant 5th position was all that was possible for the final race. He completed the season with 0 DNF’s.

In the final race of the season, the 2017 NASA Western States Championship at Thunderhill Raceway, Matt finished 3rd against 30+ of the best Spec Miata racers in the west.

These efforts got Matt recognized by Mazda Motorsports and chosen as a semifinalist for the Mazda Road to 24 Shootout in November.

Matt also completed his 2nd consecutive NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill in an E1 class Mazda Miata for RAMotorsports, setting best lap in-class but fought mechanical setbacks through the race. He completed the year with 0 DNF’s.

2016: Multiple Spec Miata Race Wins
